On 10 March 2023, EUCEI hosted a workshop to examine the demand landscape for Cloud-Edge-IoT (CEI) technologies in the healthcare sector. Participants discussed different use cases for CEI in healthcare and talked about the factors that can affect the adoption of these technologies.
Some of the ways CEI can be used in healthcare include smart medical devices with built-in intelligence, health data transmission, and AI-based systems for diagnosis and treatment. Participants also discussed how CEI can help with critical safety functions and other practical examples.
Another important topic was the flow of data-driven revenue streams among CEI stakeholders and the potential vendor lock-ins. Participants identified opportunities to encourage cooperation among experts and stakeholders in the healthcare industry.
In addition, the workshop provided an opportunity for the consortium to gather feedback from the healthcare sector on how large-scale pilots for CEI technologies should be organised. This feedback will help the consortium to better understand the requirements for future adoption of these technologies.
The workshop was part of the UNLOCK-CEI project’s efforts to support the adoption of CEI technologies by companies and industrial players. By engaging with a community of CEI adopters in various sectors, including healthcare, the project aims to gain insights into the requirements for the future uptake of these technologies and guide future research and innovation in the field.
Overall, the participants found the workshop to be a constructive and useful experience that provided a valuable forum for discussion and collaboration among CEI experts and stakeholders in the healthcare sector. As CEI technologies evolve, events like this will play an essential role in shaping their adoption and impact on the healthcare industry.
The consortium plans to hold a second series of workshops to validate the market insights collected from the first wave of events.
