CEI-Sphere and INSTAR are hosting a Joint Workshop on Standardisation and Architecture for Edge Computing. This event will bring together IoT and edge computing experts to address key standardisation gaps and promote a unified European approach in sectors like energy, mobility, and manufacturing.

Focused on harmonising international standards, the workshop will explore Europe’s role in initiatives like ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 41 and SAREF, facilitating discussions that aim to align global IoT and edge standards, supporting Europe’s Green and Digital transitions.

Workshop Objectives

  • Cross-sector standardisation: To reflect on gaps and foster collaboration between different domains and relevant industry stakeholders.
  • International Dimension: To address the critical questions around international standardization activities and the EU involvement in them.
  • Cross-Fertilization: To enable knowledge sharing and collaboration between ongoing projects in the field of edge computing and related standardization activities.
  • Roadmap Development: To brainstorm and develop a roadmap for future standardization efforts, with a clear focus on identifying key objectives, stakeholders, and potential collaborations, and explore ways to expedite the standardization process within current projects (examples SC41 and SAREF).
  • Impact Enhancement: To discuss strategies for enhancing the impact of European contributions to international standardization.
