Europe’s Cloud-Edge-IoT (CEI) ecosystem is growing rapidly, but understanding how innovations connect across sectors, technologies and stakeholders remains a challenge. From energy systems and smart mobility to industrial optimisation and agrifood applications, many initiatives are developing valuable solutions, yet the ecosystem itself often remains fragmented and difficult to navigate.
To help address this, the CEI-Sphere project has launched a new interactive visualisation tool designed to provide a clearer overview of the use cases currently being developed within Europe’s Large-Scale Pilots (LSPs) O-CEI and COP-PILOT.
More than just a map, the platform acts as an entry point into the broader CEI ecosystem. It allows users to explore how Cloud-Edge-IoT technologies are being translated into concrete, real-world applications across Europe, while also highlighting the actors, partnerships and technological building blocks behind them.
The tool brings together use cases spanning key domains such as energy, mobility, logistics, industry and agrifood. These initiatives address a wide range of challenges, from grid optimisation and distributed energy management to sustainable mobility, industrial efficiency and data-driven decision-making. Together, they illustrate how CEI technologies are increasingly becoming a strategic foundation for Europe’s digital and green transition.
A central aspect of the platform is its ecosystem perspective. Alongside the use cases themselves, the tool visualises the network of stakeholders involved, including technology providers, research organisations, industrial actors and public entities. By making these relationships visible, the platform helps demonstrate how interoperability, collaboration and standardisation are essential to building scalable and reusable CEI solutions.
