The online event titled “Advancing towards the Cloud, Edge, and IoT Continuum: Insights and Impacts” recently took place, organised by UNLOCK-CEI as part of the EUCloudEdgeIoT (EUCEI) initiative. The event saw the participation of over 70 live attendants across Europe, including industry professionals, researchers, policymakers, and technology enthusiasts.
The event, opened by the European Commission, provided attendees with a deep dive into the preliminary results and impacts generated by UNLOCK-CEI and the various task forces within the EUCEI initiative.
The discussions revolved around the advancements being made in the cloud-edge-IoT continuum and their potential impact on sectors like Manufacturing, Energy, Healthcare, Agriculture, and Transportation.
A significant highlight of the event was the panel discussion, which focused on discussing the demand-side research results presented earlier. The panelists, comprising industry experts and research use case owners, as well as representatives from the supply-side Coodination and Support Action (CSA), Open Continuum, delved into enhancing demand-supply cooperation mechanisms and opportunities. They also engaged in a debate on topics like architecture, standardisation, and open-source efforts for the computing continuum.
The event concluded with a series of use case stories, showcasing work in progress and achievements in the Cloud-Edge-IoT Continuum. These cases served as a testament to the potential of these emerging technologies and their transformative impact.
