Use cases
The section below presents the most common use cases observed in the key verticals of the CEI. and some of their typical requirements that might lead to various decisions about the cloud-edge compute continuum.
Agriculture
In agriculture, employee safety monitoring is the most commonly used IoT use case, followed by asset monitoring and maintenance. Livestock monitoring, visual inspection, and autonomous vehicles are also utilised, albeit to a lesser extent, due to the early stage of development. However, 25% of industries in agriculture have plans to deploy autonomous vehicles in the future.
