SUMMARY:3rd International Workshop on Advances on Privacy Preserving Technologies and Solutions
DESCRIPTION:Regional Workshop – Standards for Cloud-Edge-IoT ecosystemsAs Cloud\, Edge and IoT technologies continue to mature\, the need for interoperability\, common architectures and internationally aligned standards is becoming increasingly important. From digital twins and data spaces to distributed computing infrastructures\, standards play a critical role in ensuring that innovative solutions can scale beyond individual projects and ecosystems. Against this backdrop\, CEI-Sphere is organising the workshop “Standards for Cloud-Edge-IoT Ecosystems”\, taking place on 23 June 2026 in Paris\, as part of the INSTAR Final Event and alongside the ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 41 plenary on Internet of Things and Digital Twins. The workshop will bring together experts from standardisation bodies\, European research and innovation projects\, industry and policy organisations to discuss how emerging Cloud-Edge-IoT ecosystems are influencing standardisation activities and how standards\, in turn\, can accelerate innovation\, interoperability and market adoption. Particular attention will be given to three interconnected domains: Digital Twins\, and their growing impact on industrial and sectoral ecosystems;Cloud-Edge-IoT architectures\, including approaches developed within Europe’s Large-Scale Pilots and the role of reusable digital assets;Data Spaces\, digital sovereignty and federated ecosystems\, where standards and open-source building blocks increasingly need to evolve together. The workshop will also showcase several European initiatives contributing to these discussions\, including CEI-Sphere\, O-CEI\, COP-PILOT\, LICORICE\, and the INSTAR project\, providing concrete examples of how research and innovation activities can support the development of interoperable and globally relevant standards. A dedicated session will explore the Hourglass Model\, developed within CEI-Sphere\, and its role in helping stakeholders understand the relationships between capabilities\, standards\, open-source building blocks and ecosystem actors across the Cloud-Edge-IoT continuum. The event will feature contributions from representatives of ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 41\, the European Commission\, industry organisations\, research centres and standardisation experts working across Europe and internationally. A remote connection will be available in listening mode for participants unable to attend in person. The link will be shared here soon!  More information HERE.
