SUMMARY:Shaping the uptake of cloud-to-edge based services to support industrial use cases
DESCRIPTION:Shaping the uptake of cloud-to-edge based services to support industrial use cases\nCloud computing\, Edge computing and IoT can transform businesses across Europe.  Are European organisations ready?\nThe European Cloud\, Edge & IoT Continuum is engaging with industry and business representatives from across Europe to understand the current status of technology uptake and demand-supply dynamics and define future market scenarios\, pathways and demand-pull business opportunities brought by the convergence of cloud\, edge and IoT. \nOne way to understand key trends and grasp requirements to accelerate the adoption of CEI is to interact with representatives of key industries and value chains and collect their input on how to further develop this growing market. \nUNLOCK CEI is one of the Coordination and Support Actions funded in the EUCloudEdgeIoT.eu initiative to understand and predict possible market scenarios at the convergence of Cloud\, Edge and IoT (CEI) technologies and support their adoption by companies and other relevant industrial players. \nAbout the webinar \nThe second UNLOCK CEI webinar was the occasion to present the activities towards the creation of an engaged community of CEI adopters to help understand the requirements for the future uptake of such technologies and provide insights to guide future research and innovation in this field. The event opened the first wave of Value Chain Adopter workshops scheduled between February and March 2023 \nWho attended  \nThe event was free and open to anyone interested in the cloud\, edge\, IoT domains as well as related topics including but not limited to Artificial Intelligence\, Interoperability\, ICT security and connectivity. However\, the following professionals participated: \n\nBusiness users: including companies and other industrial players interested in using CEI\, operating in various industrial sectors\, such as manufacturing\, building\, mobility\, energy\, agriculture\nInfrastructure and Tech Providers: including hardware\, chips and device providers\, system integrators and maintainers\, edge and multicloud platforms\, connectivity and open-source projects\nService and Application Providers: embedded intelligence and applications\, computing\, storage\, analytics\, network slices\, orchestrators\, security\nData Management: Intermediators\, Connectors\, Federators\, Pipelines\, Resellers\, Brokers\nFacilitators: including SDOs\, public bodies\, PPPs\, industry associations\, data spaces\nApplied Research\, Development and Innovation: including R&D Industry Departments\, Applied Research Institutions and Universities\, Research Associations\, Digital Innovation Hubs.\n\nAgenda \n\n15:00 Part 1 – Introduction\nWelcome and interactive session\, Maria Giuffrida\, Trust-IT\nProject’s overview & Cloud-Edge-IoT demand landscape\, Golboo Pourabdollahian\, IDC\n15:15 Part 2 – Presentation of the Value Chain Adopter Workshops\nValue Chain Adopter Groups\, Inessa Seifert\, VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik\nFirst wave of workshops organisation and approach\, Mark Dietrich\, EGI\n15:30 Part 3 – Supporting industrial use cases: a voice to the experts \nTom de Block\, AIOTI\nHauke Timmermann\, ECO – Association of the Internet Industry\n15:45 Part 4 – Wrap-up and closure\nInteractive session with the audience and Q&A\, Maria Giuffrida\, Trust-IT\nConclusion\, Maria Giuffrida\, Trust-IT\n\nWatch the Full Recording

SUMMARY:Demand pull drivers for Cloud Edge IoT in the manufacturing sector
DESCRIPTION:Demand pull drivers for Cloud Edge IoT in the manufacturing sector\n\n\nThis workshop aims to provide an overview of the CEI demand landscape and highlight the major demand-pull drivers in the manufacturing sector. The workshop will encompass discussions of the future and current use cases as well as economic\, political\, environmental\, technological\, social and legal factors that can affect the option of Cloud-Edge-IoT technologies on the market. \nThe use cases will include industry 4.0 (the Industrial Internet of Things)\, high-value data production for process optimisation\, deep data analytics\, predictive maintenance solutions\, data consistency and quality\, and the linkage in the network of companies and suppliers. \nThe agenda will involve discussions regarding the flow of the data-driven revenue streams among the CEI stakeholders and potential vendor lock-ins. Potential gaps will indicate business opportunities and incentivise cooperation among the participating experts. A detailed agenda will be provided a week. \nUNLOCK CEI is the organiser of the event and is one of the Coordination and Support Actions funded in this cluster to understand and predict possible market scenarios at the convergence of Cloud\, Edge and IoT (CEI) technologies and support their adoption by companies and other relevant industrial players. To this aim\, an engaged community of CEI adopters will be constituted to help understand the requirements for the future uptake of such technologies and provide insights to guide future research and innovation in this field.

DESCRIPTION:Demand pull drivers for Cloud Edge IoT in the agriculture sector\n\n\nThis workshop aims to provide an overview of the CEI demand landscape and highlight the major demand-pull drivers in the agriculture sector. The workshop will encompass discussions of the future and current use cases as well as economic\, political\, environmental\, technological\, social and legal factors that can affect the option of Cloud-Edge-IoT technologies on the market. \nThe use cases will include smart farming solutions supporting the ecological production of crop and animal products\, retrofitting existing agricultural machinery with CEI-based kits\, data sharing for farmers’ sovereignty (weather prediction\, field management\, yield forecasts)\, and new digital opportunities. \nThe agenda will involve discussions regarding the flow of the data-driven revenue streams among the CEI stakeholders and potential vendor lock-ins. Potential gaps will indicate business opportunities and incentivise cooperation among the participating experts.
