As progress toward a cryptographically relevant quantum computer advances\, these attack vectors grow and the imperative to prepare for a transition to quantum secure technologies continues to increase. In response\, standardization efforts are accelerating; the initial NIST PQC standards are due in 2024\, and our working groups here at ETSI are active in evaluating these and how they will fit into existing protocols\, applications and public-key infrastructures. Hence solutions are starting to become commercially available\, best practices are being developed and shared\, and the ability to transition in a secure and cost-effective way continues to increase. This is a continually evolving and complex journey and much remains to be understood and navigated. \nThis event was designed for members of the business\, government\, and research communities with a stake in cryptographic standardization to facilitate the knowledge exchange and collaboration required to transition cyber infrastructures and business practices to make them safe in an era with quantum computers. It aims to showcase both the most recent developments from industry and government and cutting-edge potential solutions coming out of the most recent research. \nConference Objectives: \n\nShowcase recent research\, initiatives and standardization activities worldwide\nBring together key players from industry\, academia\, government and standardization bodies\nFacilitate networking and relationship-building opportunities\nEncourage discussion and critical thinking around pertinent topics\nProvide actionable steps and takeaways for novices wanting to begin their quantum-safe migration\n\nWhy should one attend? \nThe first NIST standards for PQC will be released in 2024 and therefore there is no reason to delay your quantum-safe migration further.\nThis conference is a perfect opportunity to determine your next steps\, learn from experts and network others going through the process. Nowhere else can you encounter the latest research in such an actionable way\, with specific tracks for both executives and technical experts.

SUMMARY:Tackling the ever-increasing complexities of developing efficient heterogeneous swarm systems - Webinar
DESCRIPTION:As Europe creates a pathway for the understanding and development of the Cloud\, Edge and IoT Continuum and supporting research and innovation initiatives to develop applications across the continuum\, the paradigm also incorporates development of swarm and decentralized applications. In edge computing scenarios where there is a need for decentralized decision-making and coordination among edge devices\, swarm computing principles can be applied; such a decentralized and self-organizing concept and architecture fit particularly well hyper-distributed\, sovereignty-enabling\, heterogeneous data management challenges\, such as the ones found in European Data Spaces. Additionally\, edge devices can act as agents in a swarm\, collectively making decisions and adapting to changing conditions without relying on a central controller.  \nIn this session\, we will bring together the 5 Horizon Europe projects answering to the swarm computing call and are addressing the ever-increasing complexities of developing correct and performant heterogeneous swarm systems.\n\nThe project Programming Platform for Intelligent Collaborative Deployments over Heterogeneous Edge-IoTEnvironments (formerly INCODE) enables an open and trusted cloud-native programming platform poised to tame the emerging dynamism of distributed and heterogeneous private edge infrastructures (seen as a combination of intelligent edge node and diverse types of smart IoT devices with processing capabilities over programmable data plane resources).  \n\nThe TaRDIS project addresses the ever-increasing complexities of developing correct and performant heterogeneous swarms by providing a novel programming model\, integrated development and analysis environment\, and corresponding runtime support. TaRDIS proposes a language-independent event-driven programming model that allows developers to specify the behaviour of different components in their distributed system as a collection of autonomous collaborative nodes.\n\nThe OASEES project will deliver a European\, fully open-source\, decentralized\, and secure Swarm programmability framework for edge devices and leveraging various AI/ML accelerators (FPGAs\, SNNs\, Quantum) while supporting a privacy-preserving Object ID federation process.\n\nThe ambition of OpenSwarm project is to enable novel\, future energy-aware swarms of collaborative smart nodes with wide range benefits for the environment\, industries\, and society. \nThe SMARTEDGE project aims to enable decentralised edge intelligence for smart IoT applications\, ensuring reliability\, security\, privacy\, and scalability. This is achieved through the innovative SmartEdge tool-chain for autonomous intelligent swarms\, featuring real-time semantic integration\, discoverability\, and composability. \n\nAGENDA\n  \n10:00 – Welcome and overview of the webinar\nBrief introduction to the EUCloudEdgeIoT.eu initiative\n \n\n10:10 – Roundtable of the projects with short presentations\nIntroducing themselves and the main aim of the project\n \n\n10:40 – Central interactive panel \n\nChallenges\nSuccess stories\nKey learnings and recommendations\n\n\n11:10 – Audience Q&A \n\n11:25 – Closure \n\nREGISTER NOW! \n

SUMMARY:International Conference on Engineering\, Technology and Innovation--30th Edition
DESCRIPTION:ICE is the International Conference on Engineering\, Technology\, and Innovation. It developed from an early focus on the engineering method of concurrent engineering\, to general organisation of the engineering process and its organisation within the corporation and in networks. Concurrency obviously addresses parallelisation of activities in time\, but it comes with the broadening of decision making on what is wanted and how services and products ought to be. This is not decided by technical criteria alone\, but includes usability\, economic\, environmental\, and social criteria. The ICE conference therefore discusses systems engineering as a socio-technical task with a focus on design of products and services\, and the entrepreneurial innovation process for its adoption in society and economy. \nThe 30th ICE IEEE/ITMC Conference (ICE 2024) will be hosted by UNINOVA in Madeira Island\, Portugal\, being part of the Madeira Digital Transformation Week. For this upcoming event we would like to signal to our growing community of researchers\, innovators\, industrialists and engineers to share their insights (practitioner\, industrial and academic)\, practices\, projects and case studies that address the conference theme\, “Digital Transformation on Engineering\, Technology and Innovation.” \nLearn more

SUMMARY:1st Open-Source RISC-V Software Workshop
DESCRIPTION:History teaches us that any new hardware without good and widely-used software on top has no future. Countless examples exist even from the biggest manufacturers (e.g. Intel Itanium\, IBM Cell\, …) without even considering competition (e.g Sun Microsystems’s Ultrasparcs\, Digital’s Alphas\, HP’s …). Regardless of the nostalgia and to ensure RISC-V is successful beyond small controllers\, software and -specially- widely used software suites require the focus now to avoid repeating the errors of the past. \nThis workshop is born to bring together all the researchers and developers in the open-source software arena to showcase their developments and establish collaborations. This community can provide efficiently and effectively the necessary software in the different application areas where RISC-V can be deployed. \nThis workshop focuses on software. From hardware simulators/emulators\, through OSes/toolchains\, to applications and software stacks. A special focus will be devoted to open-source and collaborative projects. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOrganizers:\nRamon Canal\, Beatriz Otero (UPC)\nStefano Di Carlo (POLITO)\nManolis Marazakis (FORTH) \nProgram Committee:\nDimitris Gizopoulos (UoA)\nJuan José Costa (UPC)\nAaron Call (BSC)\nManolis Marazakis (FORTH) \nLearn more
