SUMMARY:AIOTI Workshop on Semantic Interoperability for Digital Twins
DESCRIPTION:Date: 5-6 February 2025\n\n\n\n\nLocation: Sophia Antipolis\, France\n\n\n\n\n\nThe AIOTI Workshop on Semantic Interoperability for Digital Twins invites industry leaders\, standardisation bodies\, and experts to an in-person event exploring cutting-edge solutions for industrial semantic interoperability. Hosted by AIOTI\, the workshop aims to address practical challenges in digital twin technology\, discussing approaches to improve data exchange and industry standards for semantic interoperability. Attendees will participate in a series of talks\, panels\, and breakout sessions with a focus on applying semantic technologies\, such as ontologies and controlled vocabularies\, to support sectors like supply chains\, repairs\, and the EU’s circular economy objectives. Keynote speakers from leading organisations and projects will share insights and practical examples\, from GS1’s experience with vocabulary management to FIWARE’s Smart Data Models. \nThis interactive workshop will also examine how AI and emerging technologies can support semantic interoperability for digital twins\, exploring use cases across various industrial applications. The agenda includes sessions on best practices for developing vocabularies\, metrics to evaluate semantic maturity\, and frameworks to support cross-domain interoperability. By gathering cross-sector insights\, the workshop seeks to establish a roadmap to advance semantic interoperability\, encouraging widespread industry adoption and alignment with the EU’s Green Deal and digital ambitions. A comprehensive report will summarise discussions and proposed next steps for creating robust\, harmonised semantic frameworks. \nAgenda and registration here \n\n\n

SUMMARY:Workshop on Digital ID management and data governance through emerging edge computing and DLT solutions
DESCRIPTION:Rapid advancements in artificial intelligence\, edge computing and blockchain have propelled European industries and societies into a new era of an AI-driven Age\, which is transforming everything and changing it right now\, in real time.  These converging technologies are reshaping the industrial fabric of our world\, enabling swift adaptation of individual sectors due economic and climate challenges\, and in essence demanding cross-sector cooperation in order to drive a competitive and sustainable transition of key sectors like mobility\, buildings or energy. \nEnergy systems are becoming increasingly decentralised\, driven by the rise in renewable energy sources and electrical assets. Flexible assets such as electric vehicles\, heat pumps\, solar panels\, residential batteries etc.\, will link the energy sector to mobility and living to benefit from affordable green electricity and reduce its carbon footprint. At the core of the AI-driven age\, secure and trusted methods will be required to safely integrate energy flows across different sectors and allow different energy assets to interact with the grid in a trusted manner. \nThe objective of the workshop is to address trusted and seamless data exchange across different sectors and explore aspects like ID management\, distributed ledger\, digital wallet\, SSI and edge computing for key applications that are piloted through the pilot project O_CEI\,  like smart building\, Ev charging\, etc… Core of the discussion will be to identify key enablers for a secure approach that enables identity-related information to be safely verified and exchanged between different parties\, extending from current industrial initiatives for building a mature technology base to piloting IoT platforms and decentralised intelligence applications. In this context\, it seems promising to explore the role Blockchain and other Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT; like Ethereum\, IOTA\, Hyperledger and others) could play in underpinning such systems of fully or at least largely decentralised identification. \nThe EU-funded O-CEI project will pilot cutting-edge solutions to drive cross-domain standards for flexible energy solutions by orchestrating cross-domain data sharing\, minimising energy footprint\,  and promoting open standards for virtualisation and interoperability. It targets the adoption of edge paradigms and technologies in real-world environments in areas like electromobility\, software-defined vehicles\, logistics\, smart agriculture and agri-food\, smart urban environments and multiple electricity grids management. \nThe focus of the workshop should be on related application scenarios across sectors \, the underlying ID and data governance and its potential use of distributed ledge technologies  – with an unwavering commitment to preserve people’s sovereignty. \n\nTO LEARN MORE AND REGISTER\, CLICK HERE!

SUMMARY:EU – Canada alignment on digital credentials\, identity and trust services |The road towards compatible and secure tools
DESCRIPTION:Canada and the EU have been developing comprehensive strategies on digital identity management\, digital credentials and trust services. Digital identification solutions can provide safe and efficient access to public and private services such as healthcare\, finance\, and e-government platforms. In this respect\, human-centric digital identity and digital credentials are a priority area of cooperation. Canada and the EU should continue working towards the interoperability of their trust services\, which are key enablers for public administrations\, business transactions and e-commerce. \nCanada is currently standing up new platforms to enable a single point of access for users to sign in to government services\, and for issuing and verifying digital credentials\, including exploring interoperability of digital credentials across jurisdictions\, leveraging global standards. In the EU\, the Electronic Identification\, Authentication and Trust Services (eIDAS) regulation provides a standardised framework for secure digital identification across member states\, offering a cross-border\, interoperable system that could serve as a model for Canada’s efforts. \nTo further strengthen compatible solutions\, this webinar seeks to promote bilateral cooperation\, share best practices\, and explore how regulatory provisions can be reinforced through the creation of harmonised standards under the Canada – European Union Digital Partnership. \nThe main goal of this Expert Workshop is to bring together representatives of different stakeholders from government\, industry\, academia\, and other relevant institutions to identify and discuss relevant use cases and provide recommendations for a possible follow-up. Proposals for concrete actions shall be agreed upon to boost the cooperation in this important topic\, reinforcing peer learning and sharing of knowledge. \n \n TO LEARN MORE AND REGISTER\, CLICK HERE!
