DESCRIPTION:The ETSI Artificial Intelligence (AI) Conference – Status\, Implementation and Way Forward of AI Standardization\, will take place face-to-face on 5-7 February 2024 in ETSI\, Sophia Antipolis\, France. \nArtificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (AI/ML) technology has made major advancements in recent years and is becoming a key enabler for new disruptive features and applications in any digital product. \nThis face-to-face event will offer attendees the unique opportunity to come together to exchange with experts\, network with peers\, visit the demos and posters around the subject of Machine Learning with a specific focus on Information and Communications Technology (ICT). \nAI/ML will fundamentally shift the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry\, as technologies such as Natural Language Processing\, Deep Learning\, and others will enhance the performance of communications\, applications\, content\, and digital commerce. \nArtificial Intelligence / Machine Learning are already part of the networks and services\, and are present across multiple sectors such as finance\, manufacturing\, medical\, telecommunications and transportation. AI Chatbots and AI voice assistants are widely deployed in society. Still this field is quickly evolving and the event will provide an opportunity for experts to have insights into the latest developments. \nEurope and other regions are drafting policy and legislation which will impact the deployment of artificial intelligence. In the context of the draft AI Act\, the EU puts forward objectives including: \n\n“ensure that AI systems placed on the Union market and used are safe and respect existing law on fundamental rights and Union values”;\n“facilitate the development of a single market for lawful\, safe and trustworthy AI applications and prevent market fragmentation”.\n\nAttendees will learn about the latest status and will have the opportunity to meet and discuss with experts in this field. \nThe event will present the regulations in the different regions of the world and will provide the opportunity to get involved in standardization that will play an important role in the context of European and global regulation. It will also discuss corresponding new market access requirements\, conformity assessment\, etc. Additionally\, the event will be an opportunity for research organizations (academia and industrial research) to discuss new trends and features in the field of AI. \nThe conference will build on available work in the domain of AI. ETSI’s experts will present published and ongoing work on cybersecurity\, testing of AI\, trustworthy AI\, sustainable AI\, applications of AI for verticals and many more. \nDemonstrations and Posters on the latest advances in the field of AI/ML applied to ICT systems and applications will complement the conference programme: \n\nThe Programme Committee is currently calling for demonstrations and posters’ proposals. SUMMARY:European Convergence Summit 2024
DESCRIPTION:The European Convergence Summit (ECS) 2024 will be organised by the Adra-e project on 19 June 2024. \nThe ECS is a high-level event that aims to bring together influential figures from various backgrounds to support co-programming of the Artificial Intelligence Data and Robotics (ADR) partnership\, define orientations for ADR research and innovation in Europe with respect to socioeconomic issues\, and build a consensus among stakeholders. The overarching theme of the event will be the impact of ADR on energy/CO2 reduction. \nThe event will be organised in three main blocks.\nBlock 1: European Strategies in ADR\nThe first block of the summit will focus on Europe’s current position in the ADR industry compared to the worldwide landscape. Speakers and panellists will discuss the increasing competition among the leading countries\, and why AI\, data\, and robotics are essential in the European Union\, with a growing demand for intelligent systems across industries. \nBlock 2: ADR and Environmental Issues\nThe second block of the summit will focus on the paradoxical situation that arises when we think about ADR technology and the environment. Experts will discuss the role played by ADR in environmental sustainability\, especially when considering the high energy consumption that is required to run these technologies\, as well as the battle being waged against climate change and how technology could play an important role in reducing carbon emissions. \nBlock 3: Public Involvement and Normative Issues\nThe third block of the summit will focus on public involvement and normative issues. Discussions will revolve around the need for legal\, ethical\, and regulatory measures for ADR technology to ensure its ethical use and prevent misuse. The socio-economic impact of ADR technology will also be discussed\, including its potential impact on the job market\, especially for low-skilled workers\, the need for social investments and retraining programs to upskill the workforce and reduce the risk of increased inequalities. \nThe event will be held online. DESCRIPTION:ICE is the International Conference on Engineering\, Technology\, and Innovation. It developed from an early focus on the engineering method of concurrent engineering\, to general organisation of the engineering process and its organisation within the corporation and in networks. Concurrency obviously addresses parallelisation of activities in time\, but it comes with the broadening of decision making on what is wanted and how services and products ought to be. This is not decided by technical criteria alone\, but includes usability\, economic\, environmental\, and social criteria. The ICE conference therefore discusses systems engineering as a socio-technical task with a focus on design of products and services\, and the entrepreneurial innovation process for its adoption in society and economy. \nThe 30th ICE IEEE/ITMC Conference (ICE 2024) will be hosted by UNINOVA in Madeira Island\, Portugal\, being part of the Madeira Digital Transformation Week. DESCRIPTION:History teaches us that any new hardware without good and widely-used software on top has no future. Countless examples exist even from the biggest manufacturers (e.g. Intel Itanium\, IBM Cell\, …) without even considering competition (e.g Sun Microsystems’s Ultrasparcs\, Digital’s Alphas\, HP’s …). Regardless of the nostalgia and to ensure RISC-V is successful beyond small controllers\, software and -specially- widely used software suites require the focus now to avoid repeating the errors of the past. \nThis workshop is born to bring together all the researchers and developers in the open-source software arena to showcase their developments and establish collaborations. This community can provide efficiently and effectively the necessary software in the different application areas where RISC-V can be deployed. \nThis workshop focuses on software. DESCRIPTION:Test Event and Conference Residential Flexibility\nWe are happy to highlight an interesting upcoming event: the Residential Flexibility Test Event and Conference \, organised by ElaadNL with the support of TNO and FAN. \nThe two-day event will take place on Thursday 12 and Friday 13 February 2026 at the ElaadNL Testlab in Arnhem\, the Netherlands. It will bring together technology providers\, system developers\, policymakers\, and researchers working on residential energy flexibility and interoperability. \nElaadNL invites manufacturers and developers to take part in the first Residential Flexibility Test Event\, extending its proven “testival” approach from EVs and charging infrastructure to Home Energy Management Systems (HEMS) and Flexible Energy Intensive Devices (FEIDs). \nParticipation offers a unique opportunity to test products and software alongside other vendors in a neutral\, pre-competitive environment. Participants can identify interoperability challenges at an early stage\, explore solutions collaboratively\, and gain insight into how their assets behave in realistic residential flexibility scenarios. By taking part\, organisations actively contribute to building a shared technical foundation for scalable residential flexibility across Europe. \nThe test event is open to producers and manufacturers of in-scope equipment\, including physical or cloud-based HEMS\, as well as EV chargers\, stationary batteries\, solar inverters\, and heat pumps.
